God's Rescuing Hand

“Yes, God, your God, dried up the Jordan’s waters for you until you had crossed, just as God, your God, did at the Red Sea, which had dried up before us until we had crossed. This was so that everybody on earth would recognize how strong God’s rescuing hand is and so that you would hold God in solemn reverence always.” (Joshua 4:23-24 The Message)

In an unprecedented time when a life-threatening virus is on the move, I read this word from the Scriptures last week, and they continue to ring in my ears. The stories we read in the Bible are a testimony to how strong God’s rescuing hand really is. God is in our midst and able to save.

Life for the Fish family has changed in recent days. The girls are now doing school from home. Praise the Lord for technology!! I am doing my best to keep my students informed and encouraged. One literature class is reading To Kill a Mockingbird and the other The Diary of a Young Girl. Both books hold such important life lessons to learn. I miss not being able to discuss these in class together, but we are making the most of our time apart by finding ways to communicate virtually.

My team of students serving at a local food bank, just prior to school closures.
On this day we served at a local church daycare. We had such fun together!

Prior to school being closed, CHS participated in their annual Outreach Week. I had such fun working with my team that week. We served at local food banks, nursing homes, churches, and more. Audrey put together a video that captures the heart of our school so beautifully. Please watch it. Your support of our family is impacting not only our family but all of these precious children and community!

Audrey produced this film for the school to recap community service week.

All the students wrote a brief testimony to share at different locations. I wanted to end our update with Audrey’s words. When I first read, tears filled my eyes. What a gift this precious young lady is! Audrey had opportunity to share her testimony in a few places during that week. Below is what she shared:

“But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by His marvelous grace.” (Galatians 1:15)

“In 2004, my biological mother was pregnant with me, and she was unable to keep me. Because she was all alone and afraid, she had scheduled an abortion appointment. However, the night before the appointment, she ran into a missionary, who talked with her and convinced her to keep me. He even promised my biological mother that he would find a family to adopt the baby. Months later, I was born, and the missionary stuck to his promise; he found another missionary family to adopt me! Turning three weeks old, I was eagerly welcomed into the warm arms of a loving family.

“God, even before I was born, saved me from death. He isn’t just a far-off God in the sky; He is an intimate, loving Father, who cares for every single one of His children. I’m so thankful that my birth mother chose life for me.”

Here’s Audrey sharing her testimony at a local nursing home.

God’s rescuing hand is strong!!! ❤️ Even before Audrey was born, God was working behind the scenes to save her from death. What a beautiful story of God’s mighty presence in our lives.

Keep trusting in the Lord and leaning on His promises. “The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” (1 Thess. 5:24)

Prayer Update

It is official, we have received a letter from the city stating we must make preparations to move. We have less than 90 days now to take this step. We’ve been offered a relocation package, which will help us in this transition.

Please be praying for us to find the right place. We actually are asking God to open the door for a home that we can settle in and make our own for years to come. God’s word to us over 2 years ago was that He’d give us a good land to enjoy. It is a word we have clung to often. We are waiting with hopeful expectation because He who promised is faithful, and He will do it! 😊

We also are asking the Lord to increase our monthly support to help us continue to serve in missions. This move to a new house will involve new monthly expenses for our family that we’ve not had for the last 3+ years. And on top of a house, we also are in desperate need for another car. At times all of this has provoked some worry for me, but God is always faithful to remind me to trust Him. Thank you for continuing to pray for us regarding these requests.

What a blessing this little blue cottage has been for us!!!

Thank you for praying and supporting our family in missions. God is moving in the nations drawing people to Himself, rescuing them from sin and shame. We are grateful to partner with Him in what He’s doing on the earth and thankful for your partnership with us.

  2. Oh, I’ll be praying for you! I understand as I need to move as well. Very similar circumstances, trusting God that He will continue to be faithful. He has NEVER failed me yet.
