Fall is upon us in East Texas. We are thrilled for the cooler weather, although cool in TX isn’t quite like cool in NC. Beggars can’t be choosy though, so we will take what we can get! Awakening to 46 degrees is a pleasant change when just a few days ago the mornings started in the mid-80s. I’ve set a white pumpkin and some Indian corn on my table in commemoration of this metamorphic season to remind me that good things are on the horizon. With the leaves dropping and the evening sky beginning to arrive sooner, we are trusting the Author and Perfecter of our faith to keep us on His path of LIFE.
I’m thankful for fall because it helps me to remember life isn’t meant to be stagnant. As the trees in the field become a rainbow right before my very eyes, hopes deep within me resurface. This summer was a bit arid, honestly. Richard and I found ourselves repetitively asking the familiar adverb questions: “Lord, When? Where? How? Why?” God’s response never changed. “Trust Me.” Thankfully, His mercies ARE new every morning. Reading through the Bible daily has been our lifeline, infusing Presence and Power in our soul. Great is His faithfulness!
Joseph’s story has filled my mind as of late. Once a dreamer, his youthful mind was filled with hopes and expectations. Wrapped in a coat of many colors, love bound him to his Creator and his family. Then the story shifts and uninvited conflict enters the pages of Joseph’s life.
Rejected ~ Alone ~ Accused ~ Confused ~ Forgotten
Just when you think this story will be a tragedy for sure, the climax appears: Pharaoh is distressed and Joseph is remembered. The resolution then unfolds in such an unexpected way. The humble man is exalted and his dreams of long ago fulfilled. Fairy tales aren’t the only stories with happily ever after endings.
His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands. (Gen. 39:3)
Through it all, God never left Joseph’s side. God-anointed Presence and Power is the glue that kept this man from falling apart in the midst of life’s disappointments, challenges, and victories!
Thankfully, that same glue is at work within us too.
You may feel like your dreams have long been shelved and forgotten. They haven’t been. Our Lord never forgets. He who began a good work in you and in me will be faithful to complete it 🙂
“So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up or quit.” (Gal. 6:9)
We are so thankful for your continued prayers and support. May the joy of the Lord be your strength today dear loved ones!
