On the Road Again

Richard’s headed to Chicago! Woo Hoo!

With the summer high school missions program at YWAM Tyler in desperate need for drivers, I approached Richard earlier this week and asked, “So, why aren’t you going to Chicago?” He had been asked a couple of months ago to drive. However, the timing just didn’t seem right. Because of his work commitment in the mobilization department, he didn’t see how being gone would be good. But when the call for help went out this week, I felt led to ask him to reconsider. He did, and he’s going! 🙂

He will be part of an entourage of vans full of pumped teens ready to share the love of Jesus on the Chicago streets. With his laptop in hand, he’ll be able to work on his mobilization projects from afar AND participate in some activities with the group. It’s a win win really, and I’m thrilled for him!

We all have a part to play as ministers of the gospel.  This week in my School of Evangelism class, the students were encouraged with this truth . . .

Ministry is two-fold:

  1. A choice to serve from a motivation of LOVE.
  2. A flow of the Holy Spirit released by faith and obedience to meet the needs of people.

Repetition must truly aid learning because after hearing it said a dozen or so times, I think we all finally got it. True service is a choice which is rooted in love and empowered by God Almighty! It isn’t just for ministers and missionaries to do either. We ALL are called to minister in Jesus name wherever God has planted us.

So whether you’re driving a van full of teens across the country, taking a meal to a family across the street, opening your home for children from a community center to spend the day playing in your pond, praying for someone in the aisle of the grocery store, sending money to a young man moving to Nepal, or telling someone at work about the love of Jesus, ALL is ministry and matters in God’s Kingdom.

Please be praying for Richard this week while he’s gone. He leaves tonight (7/22) and will return next Saturday night (7/29). I’m sure he’ll come back with some stories to share. Be looking for them in next week’s blog!

  1. Go, Richard, Go! I know the kids will love having him along! And I know he will get a kick out of it too. We will be praying for fruit from their labor and for the Lord to open hearts! Love to you all,
